What do we have to offer?

Ask not what the world can do for you
But rather what you can do for the world
Great leaders have spoken
Words full of encouragement and
Words full of promises too.
What do we have to offer?

Poor things like us left without hope
Leaders talking about the Summit and 1GOAL
What do we have to offer?

We speak out by signing petitions
But at the end the word is theirs
We, poor things, left with the consequences
Having to pick us what’s left of it
Our own leaders living lives so luxurious
But without such as their riches
What do we have to offer?

Eventually their systems empowers them
Those that have led them from the beginning
Leading only to see themselves gain
Telling us “the hand that receives is the hand that offers”
With tears in my eyes and a lump of sorrow in my throat I ask
What do we have to offer?

In the Event of your Demise

Some say the grave is the final rest
While others think there’s life awaiting next
Does life end with death?
Or is it a re-birth?

In the event of your demise
You stand looking with hollow eyes
Back at the complications of your past life
When the darkness awaits you to dive (in).

The grave – the home of the dead
A home to rest your head
Where no pain nor sorrow lead the path ahead
And your life written to be read.

Life after death, I have been told
Lies beyond the hot summers and winters so cold
Awaiting an angel to unfold
But only to be given to the ones so bold.

In the event of your demise
A place prepared where your body lies
In this the final death
Or perhaps a grave is for re-birth?

Written for my friend Zukile who passed away in 2007. This I recited at his funeral. May his soul continue to rest in peace.

Confusion of Worlds Apart

Split open it left me sore,
Should it have contained it could have poured.
Pandora’s box left open,
As I kept record with the might of pen.

The pain of the world revealed to me,
As agony came to be.
I stood tall like Saint John,
As he recorded in the book of Revelation (Bible) the toll.
Confusion of worlds apart,
Torn apart as if by sharp cut.

Good and evil playing tag-o-rope,
And all that was left was a mere hope.
“To be or Not to be” was never a question,
Decision made for us without consultation.

Leaving us with nothing but confusion,
But still at the end we must offer confession.

My fearsome Comrade (Silence of the Lamb)

I will not tell a word
About the death as if by sword
Nor will I impress a soul
Of the seeming masculine foul

A respectable honorable clergy
Whom not even the devil can make edgy
Is silenced only consequential
Or the mere dog very influencial

Word handy orator
Screamed silently from encounter
I mean I know I heard him scream “Mama, Mama”
For if tears would let in, he might have wanna
Cry tears invoked from previous trauma

Oh fearless verbal comrade
A non-verbal mongel made you stand one-legged
Provoked before you could have your marmalade
We all laugh and your tension did faded…

My Broken Heart

Small streams of tears running down
the sides of your face,
I cannot tolerate.
It broke my heart
that it felt empty.
Words so sad,
I could only be confident.
I guess all I desired
was to feel your tender loving arms
cover me.
I long a kiss from
your smooth lips,
I can imagine.
All to it is the same
I will always love you
From all to all corners of the world.

Traces of my Agony

I lifted my view high
High above the heights of Mt Everest
Further beyond the horizons
Wishing for my agony to end
But instead…

A trace of my agony was exposed to me
Exposed also to the world to see
I felt a sense of longing
My heart sinking into the bottomless pit
But instead…

I held my hands high  and sought salvation
A sanctuary for my sins and tormented soul
Traces of my agony laid down before me
To recount my steps back, to trace myself
But instead…

I was given a chance to relive my life
I was given a proper guidance to avoid my mistakes
To avoid the agony I once felt
To live my life as I should have
But instead…

Instead of using that sheet
Which had my previous life mapped on it
I ignored it completely and rendered it useless
For I needed no guidance in the path of righteousness
But instead…

I have the Lord right by my side.

My Lacerated Heart

Rills of tears running down
the sides of your face,
I could not brook.
It lacerated my heart
that it felt vacant.
Wordsso crestfallen
I could only assert.
I conjecture all I desired
was to feel your tender loving arms
encompassing me.
I long a kiss from
thy smooth lips.
I can envisage.
All to it is the same,
I will always love ye,
from all, to all corners of the world.

I Love You

You make me feel like I belong
And that I’m right even though I’m wrong
When you stand by my side
You take away the fear inside.

I think about you night and day
And that together forever we will stay
When we are together hand in hand
You make me feel so very glad.

I need you like we need the sun
Every moment with you is always fun
You are so special, yes indeed
You have answered my every need.

You were sent directly from above
You’re like a perfect white dove
When I look into your eyes I melt deep within
And the sound of your voice’s like a sweet violin.

You have reached within and captured my heart
With you I’ll never want to part
I love you more as the days go on
And as the sun rises at every dawn.

You always know how to make me smile
For you I’d walk an extra mile
When I hear your name it brightens my day
Knowing you’ll be with me along the way.

I make a wish everyday
That together forever we will stay
You’re an angel from above
To you I give all my love.

Familiar Words

I speak to the people of this world
I speak of things related to the intelligent inhabitants of this earth, humans
I speak common words, yet never been spoken before
I speak common words, yet never been heard before.

I speak the language of angels
I speak in tongues that can be understood by every human being
I speak familiar words, yet never been used before
I speak familiar words, yet never been heard before.

I speak about things of this earth
I speak of people of this world
I speak words on everybody’s lips, yet never been understood
I speak common words, yet never been heard before.

I speak to the people, they don’t understand.
